The culmination of Rebirth started by Geoff Johns and others is exslained further in the pages of Action Comics written by Dan Jurgens. The fact is Superman or Kal-El, which is the name given by his father Jor-El, is right in the middle of the story to be resolved in the 12 part series call Doomsday Clock, where it is hinted that Superman will come up against the Watchmen character Doctor Manhattan. He was originally Dr. Jonathan “Jon” Osterman who was transformed into a blue, irradiated powerful being after he was disintegrated in an Intrinsic Field Subtractor in 1959.
He is the creature suspected of changing the DC universe after Flashpoint 2011, when 10 years of existence was stolen from the New 52 remake of the DCU. While that mystery will be resolved in the pages of Doomsday Clock, there still remains the question of the identity of Oz, who has been very interested in the life and trials of Superman.
